GROWTH, 2022

Exploring the powerful role of memory in shaping our identities and the way cultural roots persist even amid personal growth and physical distance. The process of revisiting and reimagining these images has allowed me to confront both nostalgia and transformation, capturing the dual sense of familiarity and change that comes with moving away from home. I seek to honor the values and traditions passed down to me and express my desire to hold onto these defining aspects of my past as I carve out my own path.

This series explores the layers of identity, memory, and tradition rooted in my upbringing within a Jewish-American household. Reflecting on the rituals, stories, and values that shaped my early years, I delve into the traditions that have remained vivid and central to my sense of self. These works incorporate recreated childhood images, inviting viewers to see the contrasts and continuities between who I was and who I am today—now living independently in a college setting, physically distant from family yet profoundly connected to the heritage that grounds me.

Serving as a tribute to my heritage and a meditation on the ways family and culture continue to influence our identities, no matter where life takes us. I invite viewers to reflect on their own roots, the moments and rituals that shaped them, and to consider how the essence of where we come from remains with us, continually influencing who we become.
