BLOODLINE, 2024

This project is a research- and archive-based exploration of family history, a starting point for an ongoing journey into uncovering the past. By meticulously sifting through hundreds of family archives, I discovered untold stories and connections that had been obscured over time, revealing aspects of our lineage and identity that had long gone unrecognized. In this work, I begin to weave together themes of wartime, the Holocaust, and the personal history of my family’s journey as Jewish Americans, shedding light on the resilience and struggles that have shaped our present.

Through this piece, I aim to evoke the powerful intersection of collective history and personal experience, touching on the impact of displacement, survival, and adaptation that my ancestors faced. Each archival fragment, image, and document represents a thread in the larger tapestry of our heritage, reflecting both the traumas and triumphs that define our story.

This project serves not only as a preservation of family memory but also as an invitation for reflection on the broader narratives of Jewish identity, resilience, and survival. It is a tribute to those who came before me and a step towards understanding the lasting influence of their journeys. I hope to continue this work, delving further into these archives to deepen my understanding of my family’s past and, in doing so, to contribute to a broader conversation about history, memory, and identity.
