FORGIVE ME, 2023

This project reflects on my childhood and the experience of growing up in a privileged environment, while also navigating the complex challenges that shaped me. Despite the advantages of my upbringing, my friends and I faced hardships—loss through suicide, the impact of illness, and experiences of discrimination. These events left a deep mark, reminding me that difficulty and resilience can coexist in any environment.

With this series, I photographed friends I have known since I was seven, each image aiming to capture their individuality and the personal histories that connect us. My intention was to reveal the strength and vulnerability in each person, exploring how shared experiences forged bonds that have endured over time. Each portrait reflects a story and a presence, honoring the personalities and unique journeys of those who have walked alongside me.

This project is also a personal milestone, marking my first experience film photography and the full process of developing my own images. Working with film allowed me to connect more deeply with the process, lending an authenticity and intimacy to each portrait. Through this series, I aim to explore themes of friendship, resilience, and the ways in which we shape each other’s lives. I invite viewers to consider how their own relationships and experiences have defined them and to recognize the power of connection amid life’s inevitable challenges.
